September 11- Janet Hurley TAMU Entomology

September 11 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

$25

Janet A. Hurley, MPA, Extension Program Specialist III – School IPM

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Department of Entomology

Pest control isn’t always as straightforward as we would like for it to be, especially when we are having to deal with people.  Insects, no matter the species, can have a negative impact on humans – just the sight of them can cause some people to have a very emotional reaction.  At times these interactions can also affect how you conduct your pest control job. This session will cover the human side of insects and how IPM can help.   This topic will cover some of the most common mental illnesses than can eventually cross over into delusional parasitosis but can be bigger impediments to being successful when working with clients.  We will discuss hoarding, anxiety disorders and more importantly what to look for and how you can help yourself from feeling overwhelmed.  IPM is people management, but if you don’t know how to manage the people you will never be successful.
